At Bircube, we value your privacy. Halfsies is a daily precision puzzle: you draw one line to cut a shape into two equal halves. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

The short version: Halfsies collects nothing. There is no account, no backend, no ads, and no analytics. Scores, streaks, and settings stay on your device. We do not sell your personal information.

1. Information We Collect

Halfsies does not collect, store, or transmit personal information to us. You do not create an account. You do not provide a name, email, phone number, or location.

a) Data Stored on Your Device

To run the daily puzzle, the app stores the following locally on your device:

  • Daily scores, cut lines, and puzzle numbers
  • Streak and stats (days played, averages, best day, best single cut)
  • Archive results, if you play a past day
  • Whether you have purchased Halfsies Pro
  • Settings (haptics, theme)
  • Whether you have completed the first-run tutorial
  • In-progress round state, so a crash mid-round can resume without granting a free retry

    • This data never leaves your device unless you choose to share a score (see Section 4) or restore a purchase (see Section 3). Uninstalling the app or clearing its data removes it.

    b) Information We Do Not Collect

    Halfsies does not collect:

  • Name, email, phone number, or other contact details
  • Location
  • Photos, contacts, or microphone audio
  • Advertising identifiers
  • Analytics, crash reports, or usage tracking
  • Shape solutions or share-card contents on our servers — there are no servers for v1

    • 2. How We Use Local Data

    Local data is used only to:

  • Show today's puzzle, your scores, streak, and stats
  • Resume a round if the app is killed mid-play
  • Remember Pro entitlement, theme, and haptics preferences
  • Let you replay a past day from the archive (Pro), without mixing those scores into daily stats or streaks

    • We do not use this data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond operating Halfsies on your device.

    3. In-App Purchases

    Halfsies offers an optional one-time Pro purchase (archive, unlimited practice, full stats history, and extra themes). The daily five shapes stay free.

  • Purchases are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We do not receive or store your payment card number.
  • After a successful purchase, the app stores a local Pro flag on your device so the unlock persists.
  • Restore Purchases asks the store for your purchase history and writes that local flag again. On a fresh install, Restore is how Pro comes back; we have no account to look it up.

    • Apple and Google process purchase data under their own privacy policies.

    4. Sharing

    Sharing is optional and started by you.

  • Text card: the app copies a spoiler-free score (puzzle number, average, and block characters) to the clipboard and opens your device's native share sheet. No URL and no shape information are included.
  • Image card: a view of the results screen without shape miniatures, buttons, or other chrome, generated on your device and handed to the share destination you choose.
  • Challenge code: a short code that encodes a difficulty and a random seed so another player can regenerate the same shape. It does not describe the shape or either player's cut.

    • We do not receive what you share. Once it leaves the app, the receiving app's privacy policy applies.

    5. Third-Party Services

    Halfsies has no backend of its own. The only third parties involved are the app stores, and only if you buy or restore Pro:

  • Apple App Store / Google Play — distribution and in-app purchases

    • There are no ads, no analytics SDKs, no crash reporters that send data off-device, and no social or cloud SDKs.

    6. Permissions

    Halfsies does not need camera, photos, contacts, microphone, or location. Haptics use the device vibrator when you leave that setting on; they never leave the device.

    7. Children's Privacy

    Halfsies is a casual puzzle intended for a general audience (age rating 4+). It is not directed at children under 13 as a data-collection product: we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.

    If you believe a child has somehow provided personal data to us, contact us and we will delete it. In the normal operation of the app there is none to delete on our side.

    8. Data Security

    Because scores and settings live only on your device, their security follows your device lock, encryption, and backups. We do not operate servers that hold Halfsies player data.

    No method of storage is completely secure. Keep your device locked if you care about local scores.

    9. Your Choices

  • Play the daily round with no account and no internet.
  • Turn haptics off in Settings.
  • Share a score only when you choose to.
  • Delete local data by uninstalling the app or clearing its storage in system settings.
  • Restore Pro on a new device with Restore Purchases (no account required).

    • 10. Changes to This Policy

    We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make any major changes, we will update the “Last Updated” date above. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
